If you look at page 8G-6 in the FSM there is a picture of it, its a 'T' shaped connector. Wire colours are given at the beginning of that section as Sbl and b which I think is blue with silver bands and black. It should be under the dashboard somewhere, I've only ever used a Suzuki scantool on a GV.

Update: I forgot to tell you: something strange is happening: After placing the transponder close to the coil antenna and removing it my GV goes on starting perfectly with my old key, without the need to use the transponder! The immobilizer is still on place but is probably not working properly! For me it doesn´t matter as long as the car starts properly. I will remember you that the problem started after removing the battery negative cable to check the valves clearance. Recently I heard from some mechanic (with Suzuki/Mitsubishi experience) that is quite common that some ECU´s, after removing battery negative cable, will not let the car start! Did you hear about this issue?

Many thanks Guru, for enlighting me with your knowledge and assisting me in order to solve my problem. I found out what it was, and I am a bit embarrassed for the trivial reason of it…    I spent lots of time checking everything thoroughly, following your advices (and the ones from Fordem) and then, just yesterday, I remember that I have been vacuum cleaning the car. I tear open the bag of the cleaner and, after checking all the dust inside I came across a very tiny black block (like the one from the picture you sent me), still involved in a piece of tape and I understood it should be the transponder and yes, the car started immediately. Thanks again!

Thanks, Guru, for the explanation.

On page 8G-14, nr. 2 on the left top is the main relay and I wonder if it is the right location to test the immo. What I am not sure is about the place where the immobilizer diagnostic coupler is.

As attachment a picture with immobilizer on the back ground and in front, a white terminal that I suppose it´s the diagnostic coupler. Am I right? Thanks.

The immobiliser doesn't have a relay, its a software function in the ECU - if the immobiliser and ECU codes don't match then there is no injection. I don't recall the location of the immobiliser it will be under the dashboard somewhere, on earlier models it is next to the heater. On some models its a small brown plastic box.

Many thanks Guru for your precious assistance.
As a matter of fact, the first thing I did was checking thorough fully the footwell and didn’t find nothing. Indeed, I have an immobilizer control module under driving’s seat and just tested the wires, following the procedure from page 8G-14 (STEP 1 and 2) of the workshop manual and had no voltage. I am going to follow your advice (STEP 3 in the same page) and look for the diagnostic coupler that must be in the vicinity of the Control module.

Its not possible to bypass the immobiliser so it should still be there, from memory, on that model it is a small silver box with a part number that starts 3997-70, if you can find that then there is another test connector for the immobiliser itself. You will need to attach a low power bulb or led or an analogue voltmeter to pull the codes from there, that will give you a more specific fault code. The factory service manual can be downloaded here: http://www.rhinoman.org/manuals/GV/SQ416_420.zip the immobilizer details are in section 8G.

If the replacement parts have matching part numbers then you need the ECU, immobiliser and the keys (plus locks) . Its probable that the mechanic swapped the parts but didn't bother to swap the locks so he taped the chip from the replacement set near the antenna. it may have fallen off, have you searched in the footwell for the chip?#

Edit: It should look like this: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Texas-4C-glass-transponder-chip-TP02_60474895033.html

or this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32844043675.html

Hi All, I would like to ask your indulgence because this is my first post in this Forum.I have been busy for quite a time with my problem that in a few words I can resume in error code 81. Suzuki Forums have been of great help, mostly from Forem, (that advise me to contact Rhinopower), because my problems are not yet solved.                                                              I own a Suzuki Grand Vitara Convertible SQ416, year 2000 (manufactured year 1999 in Canada) with petrol engine G16B. Here under I post a copy of my last Suzuki Forums message that illustrates the problem:

“Thank you Fordem, for your assistance.
It begins to look like a never-ending TV soap! In the meantime, I found the mechanic that did maintenance of the car before and he told me a very odd story: years ago, he bypassed the immobilizer and placed the transponder, from one of the keys, close to the ignition key/coil antenna! Fact is I could not find absolutely nothing in the vicinity! When I questioned him about it, he just said that it was long ago and didn´t remember exactly! Well I find this story suspicious. There is someone who sells parts from a Suzuki Grand Vitara year 2000, 3 door, same engine I have, the complete set, namely: ECM, immobilizer, control module, coil antenna and keys for the price of 280 euros.
My question is, can you please explain me if I buy the whole set I have any way to go to a special locksmith or to Suzuki dealer to code everything to match to my car or I only need to install the new kit without further expenses?”Further, if needed you can follow my complete post under “valimar” in Suzuki Forums.

Any ideas to solve my problem would be welcome. Thanks in advance.
