Hi, I am also having connection problems - Car V6 1998 Grand Vitara. Computer - HP Lap-top running Windows XP.

Problem is - Mostly I can connect to the car but after a short while the software seems to lock up and the bad data count starts to climb.

I guess this is a driver problem - Can anyone tell me the best driver to use with this.

Cheers - Tony - Australia

Hi,

I'm thinking buying a scan tool from you Rhinoman. My car is a Suzuki Vitara 1.6L 16V ET (engine type: G16B) from year 1995.
Will the scan tool work on my car?

Thanks,
Alex.

Thats an OBD2 ECU, you can get a cheap scan tool from eBay. For my interface you must have pin 9 populated as explained here:

Hi, I hope this is a picture of the ecu and the OBD socket.

The socket has pins 4,5,7 and 16 wired up.

I assumed it was an OBD1 from your description of the efi system, I suppose being a late 2000 car it may well have OBD2 as the 2001 cars..  Any ideas how I read these later cars?

Thanks again.

My cable doesn't work with OBD2, have you checked which pins on the connector are populated? What is the part number on the ECU?

It is an RB413 late year 2000 Wagon R+ UK model. It has the large 16pin OBD socket under the parcel shelf in front of the drivers knee.

I am using the RhinoPower USB cable and RhinoView v8.6 on a netbook running XP.  I have used this netbook in the past with VagCom on my VW Passat.

Have just got the car but did not notice the Check Engine Light was lit at the time - my wife was more worried about not having an accident on the brief test drive.

Car runs OK, looks like the front lamda sensor is new so this may be an old fault.

Perhaps this is not an OBD1 car, would the RhinoPower USBG cable and RhinoView  setup work with an OBD2 car?

Any help appreciated.

So are you saying I open RV and try to connect at one speed then, if that does not work shut down RV and re-open it and try the other speed?

Please help, I am using the RhinoPower USB OBD1 cable and trying to connect to my petrol Wagon R+ using an Msi Wind netbook running XP.

Cable shows up in Device manager on comm11 so I have set that in RhinoView, tried both speeds to no effect.

Any ideas please.
