For the PCB? I haven't made a schematic - its fairly straightforward to trace through any circuit that is suspected to be faulty.

The only numbers I have looked is 33920-60A70, E2T40671, 9720C. Any of those?

My apologies. I have an ECU but I haven't checked the part number. On the ECU that you have what numbers are marked on the processor?

Hi!

I´ve now established that the relay is working properly. This leaves only the control unit.

What would the price be for your exchange? And how can we manage the delivery and such.

Thank you for the assistance!

If you check across the terminals with a DMM on ohms then you will be able to determine which pins are for the relay coil. Measure across the other terminals, then apply 12v to the relay and see if it switches properly. It is possible to remove the cover from the relay, if you do so then you will see that there is a resistor across the coil, it does need that resistor so you can't replace the relay with a later one or an aftermarket item.

So I´ve now located the relay.

31850-60A10.

How can I see if it works properly?

I guess measure the income and outcome but I don´t know which pins goes for what.

Where is the relay located? I´ve checked all the fuses but the seems ok.

The car died while driving so I don´t think its corrosion or wiring but the relay could be a suggestion.

Thank you once again!

Your explanation leaves a lot of "untested" area, so. no, it's not conclusive that the ECU is at fault.

There are a couple of perhaps "known" problem areas that need to be investigated for what appears to be a fuel pump failure - there is a relay that powers the pump, the wiring to the pump, and the pump ground is a known corrosion area.  There's also an ignition feedback circuit which can cause the ECU to switch the pump off.

I would not apply voltage to the injector - especially since you feel (or know) that you have a pump related issue - if the pump is not coming on there will be no pressure at the injector.

Hi,

Thank you for prompt reply.

I´m not an expert of ECU´s, how can I see if it´s damaged?

With my explaination below would you think that it´s the ECU that causes the problem?

I´ve now removed the injector. Can I check the resistance to see if it works properly? If yes, what resistance should it be?

Or can I feed it with voltage to see if it works, if yes how much?

Thanks!

BR Claes

Check inside the ECU for damage, if it there is evidence of any then I do have a 60A70 that I can provide as an exchange ECU.

Hi,

I´ve a problem with my Suzuki Vitara '90.

The engine won´t start. My guess is that the ECU is broken, 33920-60A70.

This is how I came to conclusion.

The fuel pump is not supplied with voltage, I tested it seperatley and it works.

I remove the fuel hoses and fuel is coming when supplying voltage to the fuel pump.

I´ve tested the sensors located on the carburetor and it seems like they are working properly.

Removing the air cap and adding fuel the engine starts.

Of course I´ve tested the spark plugs, and they are also working properly.

I´ll be happy if anyone could guide me further in this mather, or if convinced that the ECU should be replaced maybe let me know where I can purchase this spare part.

Thank you for any help towards getting my suzuki started again.

BR Claes

Thx again.

Now I have finished to change the caps but due to some little acid sittng close to R52 (1K) and D22 , also for 100 uF ( I have cleaned) I can't understand the correct soldering point.

Is possible tohave , I paid for it, a schematic?

If the vehicle will be unmodified then I would retain the existing ECU, I would only consider changing it if it was to have a modified engine.

Thx for answer.

Now I have replaced the caps, one of them, 100uF was already changed but not so good with soldering so I can try to understand the correct soldering point and if on + side it is soldered on both faces of the board.

In addition if you think that a different ecu is better I can consider the upgrade.

I will post you the correct ID.

Walter

The 1989/90 ECU is different from the later ECUs because it does not control the ignition. Are you wanting to change to an ECU that controls both fuel or ignition or do you only want to repair/replace the existing ECU?

Hi

I am a new member on this interesting forum

I have the same ecu type show in this photo.

I changed the caps but some dirty parts are present.

Please can you help me to understand if I can buy a better Ecu form my 1.6 cc 8 v Vitara of 1990 with single ignition?

Or there is the possibility to have a ccomplete revision of this ecu.

I am a electronic enineer and I have a my personal lab with lot of instruments

Thanks in advance

This is a fairly unusual ECU, a very early Vitara ECU which is a fuel and emissions systems controller only

33920-60A70

The Micro is a Mitsubishi branded 63B01 which is an evolution of the 6801 processor. E816 is the firmware version.

60A70 HD63B01 MH63B01

This ECU could be modified with a daughterboard to enable it to be retuned but for a performance engine an upgrade to a later 8V ECU with ignition control would be a more preferable option.

These 1988 -1990 ECU tend to suffer from burnt PCBs caused by capacitor failures, this one has fairly typical damage, the the majority of debris from this has already been cleaned off.
