As far as I know its not possible to reprogramme the 97 Sport ECU. The Sport is rather a rare model as it was US market only and I've not had one through here to test. What does the reluctor ring look like? there are some GV models with optical sensors that can be modified to suit different ECUs.

I got a major Problem hope someone can help

I swapped a j2o engine into the 97 sidekick that had a j18

problem is the crankshaft positioning sensor reluctor ring is different and nobody over here knew that

the j18 has 36 points where the j20 has 6   the ECU is getting the wrong signal.

can the program be changed to accept the new 6 point reluctor ring on crankshaft

the car runs but it won't pass smog and I live in the occupied territory of California in USA
