RhinoMan,

I saw a '96 Tracker in the boneyard, _IT_ has an MAP, TheZuke! does not.

Thanks for steering me right on that.

Our nice spring wx has gone south for a few days, so I'll hold off any RV readings for now.

TheZuke!

Right, I got the simulator working. This is what I have now, some scalings still to be added.

0 - Fault Codes (current) - see below

1 - Fault Codes (current) - see below

2 - Fault Codes (history) - see below

3 - Fault Codes (history) - see below

4 - RPM High

5 - RPM Low,  HighLow divide by 4.096

6 - Target idle, divide by 7.8125

7 - VSS, divide by 1.89 to get km/h

8 - ECT/WTS - gain = 0.925, offset = 74

9 - EGR temperature - gain =0.9375, offset = 75

10 - TPS Angle - divide by two to get degrees tbc

11 - TPS Volts - multiply by 5/256 to get volts

12 - O2 Sensor (divide by 205 to get volts)

13 - Ign Advance, -0.3527x + 61.5 = degrees BTDC

14 - Injector Pulse Width - divide by 4.822 to get ms

15 - ?

16 - MAF - multiply by 2.6 to get g/s

17 - ?

18 - IAC Flow, litres/min

19 - IAC Adj Mon, 1.6x + 0.8 gives %

20 - Mixture Control Dwell/STFT subtract 128 to get %

21 - Mixture Control Learn/LTFT subtract 128 to get %

22 - Mixture Control Monitor/AFT subtract 128 to get %

23 - Battery Volts, divide by 13.653 to get volts

24 - Evap Purge, %

25 - Volumetric Efficiency, 0.775x+0.553 gives %

26 - Status 1

            bit2 - Fuel pump, 1=On

            bit1 - EGR, 1=On

            bit0 - O2Monitor, 1=Rich, 0=lean

27 - Status 2

            bit4 = Idle sw

            bit3 = P/D, 1=Drive, 0=Park/Neutral

            bit2 = AC Idle up

            bit1 = Power steering sw

            bit0 = O2Sensor, 1=Deactivated, 0=Activated

28 - ?

29 - IAT gain = 0.87, offset = 66 tbc

30 -?

31 - ?

Fault Codes:

  Addresses 1 and 0 are current, 3 and 2 are stored/history, bit positions are the same for current and history.

Address 1 bit 7 = Code 53

                 bit 6 = 51

                 bit 5 = 45

                 bit 4 = 44

                 bit 3 = 42

                 bit 2 = 41

                 bit 1 = 34

                 bit 0 = 33

Address 0 bit 7 = Code 25

                 bit 6 = 24

                 bit 5 = 23

                 bit 4 = 22

                 bit 3 = 21

                 bit 2 = 15

                 bit 1 = 14

                 bit 0 = 13

Now I need to put that lot into Rhinoview. The remaining addresses may have valid data but will need to be logged to see if they change.

I was looking at the schematic yesterday, I think register 9 may be EGR temperature, that backs that up, I'll try and check it tonight if I can. Can you see which pin on the ECU it goes to?

What is happening on address 4? that could be the California fault codes if its the same format as an 8V.

I did have a brief look last night and I do have IAT at 29. I'm so used to the normal locations for the registers that it didn't occur to me to look for it on page 2. I have the vaules now and I just need to work out the scaling.

Battery voltage is correct when the scaling is applied.

MAF looks OK, I need to confirm this

VSS - I'll look at the scaling for that

 I found a couple wires coming off of the TPS harness, they connected to something near the base of the EGR valve, the wire color code "sort of matched" the Tracker Shop manual..

When I unplugged it, register 9 went to zero.

Good stuff. I won't be able to do any more to this until tomorrow but hopefully I should be able to get one running on the bench.

 That is all I've located this afternoon.

 editted for a couple of additions a couple hours later.

The addresses that I need now are MAF (unplug) and air temp. sensor (unplug) and also injector pulse width. InjPW is usually two registers, high and low and will increase when you accelerate but will drop suddenly when you back off the throttle (fuel cut).
