Off to the mech..

So, my SDL interface is on its way soon, and my new used car is off to the mechanic soon as well for some general upkeep.

Having my CV boots done, 5w30 oil and filter, diff and trans case oil, and new oil pan gasket since its leaking. Don't know yet if the mech will be pulling the differential to get to the oil pan or lift the engine..  in any case i was thinking to ask him to do the chain tensioners as well.  Its a bit noisy but 2 others mech's didn't even bother mentioning it when i had em look 'er over. Nonetheless, some preventive maintenance could be good, its a 300,000km 2.5L V6, and has 15w40 oil inside at the moment.  Could be a lazy lifter since the noise seems to be coming from the passenger side of the engine..  we shall see.  Put a liter of ATF in 'er for a bit of clean up as well.

Since the SDL interface is on the way, i wanted to ask about the scope of its diagnostics capabilities.  To be more precise, can it point out any errors that would require the engine being lifted or some other more serious work?  If that's the case then i would wait for the trip to the mechanic since work is already being done.  If not then i'm off to the mechanics and any other details the interface points out i'll deal with later. (for example the ABS is acting funky at low speeds but i'm sure that's something i can take care of without too much hassle)

Thanks in advance,

Ivan
