I have EGR and headted O2 sensor on the car. I found a 33920-70E40, which is from a Vitara from the same year as mine, but it for the manual version, both are 1.6 8v with heated O2 and EGR. Do you think this ECU would work on my car?

  Tks for your help.

IPA = IsoPropyl Alciohol, its a cleaning fluid often used on electronics.

Without examining an ECU I can't say for sure if it can be scanned.

The ECU is the same design as the 56B30 and 56B70 (M/T) and 56B40 and 56B80 (A/T) ECUs as well as other 94-95 8V models but there are different emissions systems fitted. Do you have EGR and a heated O2 sensor? If your ECU is badly damaged then its possible to swap the processor into another one to get the correct software.

Its probably because its a Brazil model. The ECU is the same type that was fitted to the 91-95 Vitaras. I don't think that I have that version of software so I can't test it although the number does sound familiar. The board has has some sort of work done to it, it looks like someone tried to clean it with IPA or similar, unfortunately that tends to make a mess.

yes, is 1997.  I think that confusion is because this car was sold in Brazil, and I don´t know what kind of the mix they did in manufacturing of this car,

or maybe someone has changed the ECU or Conector.. I don´t know.

I´m sending attached a picture that shows EL76  - MH6111

Are you sure that your Vitara is a 1997? that is the earlier ECU design which I have only seen in 1994-1996 models. I've only ever seen that ECU design with the earlier 12-pin plug. If I was to make a guess I'd say that is a 95 model. Is the number on the processor EL76?

The serial data link should go to pin 9, if you can post a picture of the inside of the ECU I will be able to see if the components for the SDL are fitted. That circuit won't work, SDL is a 5V signal and requires specific signal levels, also very few PCs support the required baud rate.

I don't think that is the correct diagram for your ECU, I think that you have a 22-pin and a 26-pin socket.

Do you mean ECU open? if you want, I can do this

I found some documentation, and in this picture(annex1) shows Serial Data Terminal(21) and monitor coupler(14)

I think that monitor coupler(14) is that one in the engine, and Serial Data Terminal(21) in ****pit..  that´s it?

if Serial Data Terminal(21) in  A20 pin of ECU is data signal(5V), it could be used for TX and RX, right?

Do you think that circuit in annex2  (ALDL to PC Interface) could be work?

Hi,

I confirmed and it´s really this.

Unless that someone has been changed.

I have meter pins voltage, and I found this:

Pin 5 = Ground
Ping 15 = 5V
Ping 16 = 12V

Follow image attached that confirm pinouts
